We haven’t seen any controlled trials in actual patients evaluating the clinical value of alkaline water, but we’ll keep an eye on this sector for updates.

 

Is everyone on board, though?

Alkaline water, according to US physician Kent Sepkowitz, is “just another trend with no science to back it up.”

While some claim that taking it on a daily basis decreases stomach acidity to a pH of 6.75, which is incapable of digesting protein and limiting bacterial growth in the stomach, others say it has no effect.

Is it then required that I switch to alkaline water?

Because everyone’s body is different, you should always consult your doctor before making a lifestyle or dietary change.

It’s unknown whether drinking water with a pH of 9 can reduce your dependency on medications or eliminate all symptoms of reflux.
